Sports Betting in Georgia
Sports betting will not be coming to Georgia any time soon although lawmakers have flirted with the idea.
Representative Ron Stephens, R-Savannah has been a big proponent of pushing sports betting legalization in Georgia, but the state does not have any casinos or horse racing facilities.
Stephens would like to introduce legislation in the beginning of the new year. Previous bills have failed to pass.
And even if this measure were to somehow pass, voters would have the final say via an amendment. There are no guarantees such a referendum would even pass. New Jersey has enjoyed great success with its sports betting platforms live since 2018, yet voters this November rejected a referendum that would have allowed for individuals to place bets on games featuring in-state schools.
