In the 2019 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end appeared in all 16 games, starting in six of those. In Week 11, against the New Orleans Saints, he had a career-high ten receptions for 73 receiving yards in the 34–17 loss. He finished the season with 36 receptions for 311 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.

Brate also gathered 11 of 16 targets for 149 yards and a touchdown in the NFC Championship versus the Packers that helped his team advance to Super Bowl 55.

Kansas City has allowed nine touchdowns to tight ends and the fifth-most receiving yards to the position during the regular season (954).
