Rodgers vs. Brady

Green Bay heads to New England Sunday night in prime time for a battle between Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers which many are dubbing the two best quarterbacks in NFL history. When comparing the two, there really is no wrong answer with who you have coming out on top. I love Aaron Rodgers. I like Tom Brady. When you compare the two, I have to go with Tom Brady as being the GOAT, but I think some of the reasons why are beyond Rodgers’ control.

Rodgers Leads the Comebacks

Aaron Rodgers is the guy you would want right now to lead your team in a last minute comeback when you need a touchdown to win. However, when you start talking about the GOAT, you have to look beyond right now and delve into the entire history of the two quarterbacks... Since Rodgers took over in Green Bay, the Packers have appeared in three NFC Championships and won just one Super Bowl. In those 11 years, in total, the Packers have had much better receivers and a better pass-protecting unit than the Patriots have had for Tom Brady.

Brady has the Rings

So why have the championships not been stacking up in Green Bay? The reason is because Aaron Rodgers is unfortunately tied to Mike McCarthy. Mike McCarthy is one of the worst football coaches in the league, but has kept his job solely because Aaron Rodgers gives him enough to success to make it hard to justify firing him. It is a shame that such a talent is being lost due to such poor coaching and it may ultimately cost Aaron Rodgers the success needed to overtake Brady as the GOAT.

The team success factor is really the only thing that separates these two. For their career, Rodgers is ahead of Brady in QB rating, yards per completion, rushing yards, rushing tds, interception percentage, touchdown percentage, and completion percentage. Therefore, if you want to say that Rodgers has been the better player over the course of his career, then you would have no argument with me. Despite having less talented receivers than Rodgers since Rodgers has been in the league, Brady has taken the Patriots to nine AFC title games and five Super Bowls. Again, you compare Mike McCarthy and Bill Belichick and you can see why there is a disparity in team success.

When you look back over their careers, you remember the greatest of plays that were made in the greatest of moments. Tom Brady has been in a position to make more of those career-defining moments and his supporters can look to dozens of those moments he has made in the playoffs and Super Bowls. Aaron Rodgers has had his moments, but those moments are largely regular season games without the season on the line.

Brady is the GOAT

Aaron Rodgers has been just as good, if not better, than Tom Brady. He has had better skill players around him for the majority of his career, but his team has just not reached the mountaintop enough. Rodgers is younger and still has time to build a dynasty, but the dynasty in New England is already a decade and a half deep. For these reasons, Tom Brady is the greatest of all time. New England are -5 favorites at home against the Packers.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?

Bet on Jared Verse Draft Position

Jared Verse had an over/under selection number of 15.5 with CBS Sports believing the Florida State EDGE will be chosen by the Seattle Seahawks at No. 16.
