He said conference officials are working on procedures and policies as rumors were swirling of another vote coming soon that could result in Big 10 football kicking off in October.

"I am very encouraged we are going to see that happen. And I am very hopeful we are going to see that yet this year," Green said.

Sports talk show host Dan Patrick tweeted his sources that Oct. 10 is the last day the Big Ten teams could compete and still be eligible for a national championship.

The Big Ten did not provide any official updates on Wednesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, they said, "We are exhausting every resource to help student-athletes get back to playing the sports they love, at the appropriate time, in the safest and healthiest way possible."
