The Ravens So Far in 2018

From NFL.com: "Of all the endings Sunday, the one no one could have foreseen was the Ravens losing because Justin Tucker's extra-point try sailed wide right. You would have had far superior odds guessing you wouldn't see Ray Liotta in one of those Chantix commercials. You'd have had a better chance convincing a German that Dirk Nowitzki isn't the best basketball player of all time than correctly predicting Tucker would miss that kick. You'd have been better off prophesying that Ben Roethlisberger won't put on a walking boot at some point this season. (On second thought ...) Small move down for the Ravens, who played mostly well against one of the better teams in the league."

The Panthers So Far This Season

From NFL.com: "Gritty win for the Panthers, who, for the second week in a row, found themselves on the road, trailing an NFC East opponent by multiple scores. Carolina was losing to the defending champs 17-zip in the fourth quarter, then scored touchdowns on three consecutive drives -- marches of 80, 87 and 69 yards. How about the defense? That unit halted the Eagles' final foray with not one but two turnovers. After an apparent Eric Reid interception was overturned by replay, Carolina forced another turnover to end the Philly surge. Clutch."

The Ravens 2018-2019 Odds

The Ravens pay $14 for every $10 bet to win the AFC North.  They are at 22-1 odds to win the 2019 Super Bowl.

The Panthers 2018-2019 Odds

The Panthers pay $30 for every $10 bet to win the NFC South and are very much in the mix. They are at 40-1 odds to win the 2019 Super Bowl.

Line Movement and Public Backing

This one has gone from Ravens -1.5 to -3.

Ravens vs. Panthers Betting Trends, Predictions

From ESPN.com:

ESPN's Football Power Index rates this game No. 1 for Week 8 in terms of overall quality, ahead of Saints-Vikings and Packers-Rams.

"Baltimore defensively should give them headaches and probably force Cam [Newton] to throw a couple picks," one of the insiders said. "That should be the difference in the game, but we shall see. One thing affecting Baltimore is their run game is not quite as productive. Maybe that is the nature of the games they are playing. I'll take Baltimore in what might be a game-of-the-week-type matchup."

This insider marveled at the Panthers' ability to pull off a victory against Philadelphia after trailing 17-0 last week.

"I'm going to go Baltimore because they have proven they contain high-powered offenses like New Orleans, and I don't know if Carolina can generate enough offense against that defense," another insider said. "[Ravens defensive coordinator] Wink [Martindale] is going to be sending so much crap at Cam that it is going to be trouble."

Carolina is 4-2 this season, despite having just one game when its offensive and defensive efficiencies were 50 or better on ESPN's 100-point scale. Baltimore has had four such games, tied with the Chargers and Rams for most in the league.

"That Baltimore defense travels, and then their offense is good enough," another insider said. "This is going to be a good game. Carolina's secondary against Baltimore's receivers is not a favorable matchup for Carolina, but by the same token, Cam Newton and the runner [Christian McCaffrey] can probably neutralize that. I see a close game with [Justin] Tucker bouncing back."
