Las Vegas finished at the .500 mark last season both Straight Up and Against The Spread.  Oddsmakers have them repeating with a price of -130 to win OVER 7 regular season games.

At one point last season, the Raiders owned a 6-3 record Straight Up.  The end-of-season collapse was mostly a result of a pourous defense.

There is good news on that front.  New defensive coordinator Gus Bradley gets 13 new players through a combination of free agency and the draft.  The infusion of fresh talent along with savvy veterans is expected to complement a Playoffs caliber offense that averaged the 10th-most points in the league.

Just how bad was the defense last season?

Las Vegas had 21 sacks, ranking 29th in the 32-team NFL. And of those 21 sacks, 16 came from the defensive line.  Those 16 sacks from the defensive line ranked 22nd in the NFL.

Versatility, defensive line coach Rod Marinelli said, is key.

"There's guys that can play the under, and that can play the nose," Marinelli said. "I ask each man to do that -- make sure you know two positions. Some of these unders could go play the big end for us, need be, because they're all pretty athletic.

"We've got nice speed, good athletic guys who work. So that allows you to do a little bit more."

Improvements on the defense make -130 on the OVER 7 regular season games a good value

Bet on Rome Odunze Draft Position

Rome Odunze is favored to be selected under 8.5 in this week's NFL Draft, but not by a whole lot.  The price was coming in at -150 on the under and +120 on the over.
