Rough Start

The Chicago Cubs opened the season at 40-1 odds to win the 2021 World Series.  That's a middle-of-the-road team.  Those odds held even after heading into their series versus Milwaukee at 4-5.

The Under occurred in six of the first Cubs nine games with another a push.

Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com writes:

"The Cubs can pitch, but the offense is spotty once again. The newcomers have been impressive on the mound with Jake Arrieta, Zach Davies and Trevor Williams leading the team to its first three wins. One major bright spot is closer Craig Kimbrel, who has been fantastic so far."

Series

@ Milwaukee Brewers April 12-14:

  • In the last twenty games of this series, the Cubs have three away wins.
  • Heading into this series, the UNDER was 5-1 in the last six and eight of the last eleven.
  • They face the Brewers again at home on April 23-25.

vs New York Mets April 20-22:

  • Cubs come into this series 14-3 over the last seventeen games versus the Mets.
  • New York's three games were in Chicago.

vs Milwaukee Brewers April 23-25:

  • See Above

@ Cincinnati Reds April 30-May 2:

  • The OVER is 7-3 but it should be noted that two of those UNDERS were listed at 6.  With this in mind, the OVER is 9-1 in the last ten games of this series where the total was 7 or greater.

vs Pittsburgh Pirates May 7-9:
