ACR Cancels MOMOMO PKO Series but $5 Million Venom Still On

Americas Cardroom on Tuesday announced it had cancelled the remaining events of the MOMOMO PKO series.   The remaining $1,000,000 events (October 11th and 18th), and the $5 Million PKO Venom will run as planned.

"Basically, we were getting crushed on overlays and just couldn’t sustain it," a representative from the company tells Gambling911.com. "Surprisingly, the reaction from the general public has been positive.  I think we also overestimated how popular PKO tourneys are."

An official statement from the company added: "Over the past decade, no other poker site has pushed the envelope as much as we have. In fact, the first dozen or so Million Dollar Sunday tourneys featured overlay after overlay—oftentimes hundreds of thousands of dollars worth. But we stuck to our guns and continued to host them, knowing that they’d grow in popularity, and in turn, allow us to offer our player base a bigger and better tournament offering.

"We’ve stuck with this philosophy which has helped our community grow and allow us to bring you events like our $7 million GTD Venom."

Americas Cardroom is the largest US-facing online poker site and the $7 million GTD Venom is the biggest online cash tournament of its kind.
