82% of 2024 Presidential Election Bets on Trump Over Last 48 Hours

Since news broke late Monday of a raid on the former U.S. President Donald Trump's residence in Palm Beach, Florida, some 84% of the bets coming in on the 2024 Presidential election were on Trump at BetOnline.

As a result, Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are once again co-favorites at -120 to get the Republican nomination.

By comparison, former Vice President Mike Pence was coming in at 12-1 odds.

On Tuesday morning, immediately following news of the search of Mar-A-Lago, DeSantis had become a brief favorite.

2024 GOP Nominee Odds Tuesday Morning August 9

Ron DeSantis +115 (previously +125)

Donald Trump +130 (previously +140)

There are signs that the Trump base has been re-energized by the view that the “deep state” is out to get Trump while ignoring claims of supposed wrongdoing by President Biden’s son Hunter and to Hillary Clinton.

“It seems a really extreme reaction [from the FBI] when they were negotiating, and it’s about presidential records, when contrasting with how Hillary was treated and how Hunter was treated,” a former Trump adviser said Tuesday. “Republican voters are now reactivated and re-angered that there are two systems of justice in this country.”

News outlets have widely reported that Monday's search had to do with the potential mishandling of classified documents that should have been sent to the National Archives and Records Administration,

The Albany Times Union and Judicial Watch have separately asked a federal magistrate judge to publicly release the search warrant for what is presumably related to the FBI raid of former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in Florida on Monday. The judge gave the DOJ until August 15 to respond to the request.
