From Canada to Croatia and the United States to the United Kingdom, here are the most popular card games that you can try with your friends and loved ones.

Blackjack is perhaps one of the most played card games in the world. According to Google trends, Blackjack is popular in the US, UK, Mexico, Canada, Netherlands, Argentina, Germany, South Africa, Lithuania, Italy, and Spain. A Betway survey revealed that people from 14 countries out of the 25 countries analysed played Blackjack. Blackjack has seen an increase in popularity – from 56/100 to 58/100 over the last five years.

Thousands of casinos and websites offer a range of variations of this game, making it an appealing option for those who love to go out, as well as those who prefer to play at the comfort of their own homes. Blackjack is popular because of a range of reasons, including the following.

  • It is easy to play

  • It has good odds because of the low house edge

  • It has a three to one playout

  • It is fast-paced

  • Its basic rules are static

  • It is a social game

  • It is highly affordable

  • It is a global game

Stud is yet another common casino game today, played in 4 out of the 25 countries in the Betway survey. These countries are Croatia, Czech Republic, the Philippines, and Panama. The same study indicated that Stud is and will continue to be the second popular card games in the next five years, only after Teen Patti. This is notwithstanding the fact that its popularity dropped from 95/100 to 91/100. People love Stud for these and many other reasons.

  • It is fun since characters are livelier

  • It is rare for a single hand to end a tournament or ruin a session

  • It gives non-bluffers a chance

  • It rewards solid play more often

  • It has a greater skill gap between players – which is a good thing if you are skilled

  • It prepares you for other poker variants.

Texas Hold 'em

Texas Hold 'em is the Rolls Royce of poker. You've probably heard about it, but it's about time you should try it. The blend of Poker Boom and Rounders has essentially made this card game the game that gamblers have to learn at some point.

In the Betway survey, Texas Hold 'em is most prevalent in Finland and Austria. Although its popularity has decreased from 52/100 to 35/100 in the last five years, it is still a game worth playing. People from around the globe play Texas Hold 'em for these and many more reasons.

  • It provides more details in every hand

  • It offers lots of avenues to use the information, giving a skilled player an edge

  • It's a faster game

  • It has vast TV coverage

Baccarat is similar to Blackjack, only more straightforward. It is a banking game that's available in casinos across the globe. However, the card game is most popular in two countries, namely France and Australia. In the Betway survey, Baccarat comes third in popularity after Teen Patti and Stud, but has seen a massive increase from 11/100 to 45/100 over the last five years. It's widely accepted for these reasons:

  • It requires no skills

  • It is played for very high stakes

  • It has the lowest hold percentages

  • It has no fixed numbers since play cards are generated randomly

Teen Patti

Teen Patti is no doubt one of the most highly sought after card games today. According to the Betway survey, it has seen a steady increase from 35/100 to 63/100 in the last five years and is set to trail the blaze with a popularity of 91/100 in the coming five years.

Teen Patti is widely popular because of its western origin with an Indian touch. It is also a family game that can be enjoyed and played with people of all age groups. Teen Patti is the most popular game in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Other reasons why Teen Patti is so popular are:

  • It's available as mobile apps

  • It has wide variations
