How big is the $25,000 PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship this year?

Over a thousand players have descended upon the host venue, Atlantis Resort & Casino in the Bahamas, in order to take part in the event.

The prize pool is now $26 million, making it PokerStars largest live tournament in the company's history.

The thousand plus players far exceeded the target 640 entries.

728 had already taken their seats Sunday while hundreds more gathered to buy-in late.

1039 entered by Monday morning.

It is currently ranked 17th for largest ever poker tournament with at least six millionaires guaranteed to walk away from this year's Players No Limit Hold'em Championship.

For the longest time, the record in terms of entries into a $25,000 buy-in event stood at 639, courtesy of the 2007 WPT Championship event in the Bellagio.  And this was a time widely considered the height of the so-called poker boom.
