Charley Hoffman Atop The Masters 2017 Leaderboard: Would Pay Out $12.5K

San Diego’s Charley Hoffman led the pack at this week’s Masters tournament heading into Friday’s Round Two.  Should he manage to hold on to this lead, the payout would be $12.5K for every $100 bet prior to Thursday.

Ahead of Friday’s play, Hoffman was given 6-1 odds of winning the Masters 2017.

His odds were shortened substantially thanks to his dominance Thursday.

Hoffman took a 4-shot lead Thursday over William McGirt for the largest gap at the top after the first round at Augusta in 62 years.

This is the largest lead after the first round since the 1955 Masters, when Jack Burke Jr. opened with 67 and was 4 shots ahead of Julius Boros and Mike Souchak.

McGirt, by contrast, still had long odds of 40-1.

Despite failing to make the top 10 cut after first round play, Rory McIlroy was the new favorite heading into Friday morning at nearly 6-1 odds.

Justin Rose was at 11-1 odds while Phil Mickelson was coming in at 15-1.

Bad news for those bettors who backed the favorite Dustin Johnson, as he left the Masters after injuring his back in a fall.
