Following Newt Gingrich’s big South Carolina primary win this past Saturday, the Mitt Romney camp was not the only bunch banging their respective heads against the wall.

The bookmakers at PaddyPower.com shed some tears as well.

That’s because PaddyPower.com, an Irish bookmaker that accepts wagers from all over the world except for the United States, paid out Mitt Romney wagers after his big New Hampshire primary win.

Romney was touted as a near guarantee to win the Republican nomination for the US Presidential race.  Then, out of the blue, Gingrich picked up steam and left Romney in the dust.

"It looks as though we could have jumped the gun too soon by paying out on Romney," a Paddy Power spokesperson told Fox News. "Newt Gingrich is continuing to build momentum and if he succeeds we could end up with some very expensive pie on our face.”

The bookmaker claimed to be paying out nearly $26,000 on the early Romney win wagers.

"We felt the race for the nomination was over," said the spokesman, who added, "If Gingrich takes Florida, we'll definitely be reaching for the deodorant."
