Bookies in India as well as punters believe it is only a matter of time before beleaguered Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf gets impeached. Odds of 70-120 have been placed on the event occurring, and soon.
There were several reasons behind Musharraf being favourite of gamblers as they believe that the impeachment motion will not be a success and that he will resign after he has left the country, bookies said about the logic behind people putting money on the Pakistani President who is facing ire from all directions.
Several bookmakers also disclosed an equal rate of 95-95 for Musharraf being impeached or surviving the ruling Pakistan People's Party-led coalition's efforts to oust him from office, Daily Times reported.
But it's not just the Indians who have placed bets on a Musharraf impeachment.
The bookies revealed that as the issue "involved high-stakes betting, all bets made in Lahore were either collectively sent to India, or through Karachi to India".
Lahore is the capital of the Pakistani province of Punjab and is the second largest city in Pakistan after Karachi. Locals are not even allowed to drink alcohol let alone gamble.
