San Jose, Costa Rica – Americas Cardroom's second Online Super Series is proving to be an incredibly lucrative tournament series for US poker players. After just five days of nightly tournaments, the online poker site has paid out $430,370 in tournament prize pools, eclipsing the $312,000 that was guaranteed over the last five days by over $118,000. On Sunday the US-friendly site will host a $150k GTD tournament at 7:00pm ET.
"Our weekday tournament prize pools are exploding, surpassing our guarantees by record numbers," said Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. "As a result, we've seen competition for the sterling silver bracelet heat up significantly. It really is anyone's series to take."
Harris is referring to the sterling silver bracelet that will be awarded to the OSS II leaderboard champion. Players who cash in any OSS II event are awarded points based on how they place and the size of the prize pool. The player with the most points at the end of the series will be crowned the winner and will be awarded the OSS II bracelet.
Today, online poker player thenutgut sits in the lead with 617.65 points, butSugarSprinkledWalrus and schoolbus are within spitting distance of first place, with less than 100 points separating them from the title. But owning the title could be short-lived. With a week-and-a-half to go in the series, the leaderboard is really anyone's to take.
With a weekend stacked full of big events, it's easy for any player to move up the leaderboard. On Sunday, January 20th at 7:00pm ET, Americas Cardroom hosts a $150,000 GuaranteedTournament. The event costs just $200+15 to get into, and low buy-in qualifiers for the event are now live. On Saturday, Americas Cardroom hosts a 100-seat guarantee for the $150,000 Guaranteed Tournament. The 8:00pm ET tourney costs just $60+3 to get into.
OSS II is Americas Cardroom's signature online poker series. The $1 million guaranteed Online Super Series features 82 events spread out over two weeks. The series will culminate in a $200,000 guaranteed tournament, with $75k, $100k, and $150k tournaments thrown into the mix, too. The online poker tournament series runs from January 13th through January 27th, and low buy-in qualifiers are now running.
Americas Cardroom's Online Super Series resumes today at 7:00pm with $4,000, $3,000, $10,000 and $20,000 Guaranteed events. The tournaments range from $27.5 to $109 and low buy-in qualifiers are now running for poker players who want to get into the tourney for less.
