The Poker Players Alliance this week revealed the US Justice Department agreed to meet with the grass roots organization late last month.

The PPA said that it had stressed the importance of American’s being able to play online poker and that the game is one of skill and should not be misconstrued as gambling.

It is not immediately clear how responsive the DOJ has been to the PPA’s insistence that poker is a game of skill, however, the Poker Players Alliance has gone on to state that the Department of Justice is very much concerned over the plight of players who have not received funds since the Full Tilt Poker indictments of April 15.

"We continue to believe the best and most expedient way to reimburse players is through the sale of Full Tilt contingent on paying back players," Pappas said. "I think the DOJ would like to preserve as much of the forfeiture money for themselves, but they would view a new company coming in and paying back players as something beneficial to them and the player community."

Pappas also disclosed that his organization has had meetings with nearly every member of the debt super committee and believes the initiative to legalize online poker will be brought up as a possible instrument to help reduce the deficit.

"There are people on the committee and off the committee who see value in this," Pappas said. "We've worked hard the last several weeks to educate various members on the committee on why this would make an ideal candidate for the committee proposal. I think those in the committee are interested in seeing possible revenue projections."
