Man Will Face Life Sentence for Botched Poker Robbery

A San Antonio man was sentence to life in prison after jurors found him guilty for his participation in a botched poker tournament robbery.

Deaon Deshawn Hargrove and two other men were arrested last April after police surrounded the home where the poker tournament was taking place.

The host of the poker party called 911 on his cell phone as the men burst inside the house with two handguns and a shotgun, police said.

Aggravated robbery is a first-degree felony generally punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison. But because of a previous robbery conviction, Hargrove faces a minimum of 15 years in prison.

It took a jury just one hour to arrive at their decision.

News of the sentence comes just days after a high profile poker tournament in Berlin, Germany was caught on tape. Armed bandits escaped with over 200,000 euros from the European Poker Tour Berlin event and are yet to be captured.
