The former girlfriend of 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel is alleged to have planned the forced entry and robbery of his home outside of Montreal just days before Christmas (both are pictured).  A woman who participated in a ménage à trois with the couple just months before the attack acted as a tipster.

What transpired on December 21 was like something out of a movie.  Duhamel, 24, answered his condo door and was then accosted by two individuals posing as delivery men.  He was beaten twice and the assailants threatened the lives of his family while also saying they would cut his fingers off.

In addition to a Rolex watch and diamond-encrusted WSOP bracelet (yet to be located), $40,000 was taken from Duhamel’s home safe.

Investigators say a tipster (whose name is being concealed) advised she had received text messages from Duhamel’s ex, Bianca Rojas-Latraverse, 20, just prior to the attack.

“I’m scared,” Rojas-Latraverse allegedly wrote to the woman, her friend. “Tomorrow I have something big that could cost me my life.”

Rojas-Latraverse is facing five charges that include conspiracy, armed robbery, breaking and entering, forced confinement and assault.  John Steven Clark-Lemay, 22, and Anthony Bourque, 20, are the two men alleged to have assisted Rojas-Latraverse.  They are facing the same charges.

From the Toronto Star:

The woman arrived at Duhamel’s place, where the poker icon was watching sports on TV, according to the officer. The three then went up to his bedroom where they started kissing. Duhamel’s girlfriend then got angry and the two women started arguing.

As he recounted these details, Rojas-Latraverse, a petite woman with dark hair pulled back in a ponytail, wore a small grin on her face, one of several moments she smiled during the hearing.

Despite the intimate encounter, the female informant’s opinion of Rojas-Latraverse was not very high, Lapolice said. On Dec. 23, she went to police about the latter’s text messages regarding the alleged plan to attack Duhamel.

She told investigators that Rojas-Latraverse mentioned three weeks prior that she wanted to rob Duhamel because he kept a lot of cash at his place. By then the couple had been broken up for months. But no one believed the former girlfriend was serious because she was considered to be someone who “lies all the time.”

Rojas-Latraverse allegedly continued her texts: “Tomorrow, at 10 o’clock, think of me,” she wrote. “My future is in play tomorrow and my plan will go ahead. . . ”

“I’m driving, that’s it,” she continued.

Rojas-Latraverse was the first to be apprehended and later implicated her alleged accomplices.
