Harry Reid: “Online Poker Would Create Jobs, And Lots of Jobs”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid held his inaugural Twitter Town Hall and, not surprisingly, many of the questions asked surround the subject of jobs.

One individual asked whether legalized online poker in the US would help create jobs.

His response: While opposed to illegal online gaming, Reid said he did support legalizing and regulating online poker.

“Online poker would create jobs, and lots of jobs,” he said.

The Senate Majority Leader is pushing for a measure that would ultimately legalize Internet poker. The legislation is backed by major land-based casinos from his home state of Nevada.

Some observers believe that Reid’s draft legislation could be attached to President Obama’s job bill, allowing for the best chance of passage by year’s end.
