Depositing on WSOP.com Hasn’t Been Easy Say Players

The second real money online poker site to begin accepting players from the US within the US hasn’t had the easiest time getting money in (or off the site) according to complaints that have cropped up on the TwoPlusTwo.com message boards.

US regulated sites were supposed to have an easier time than their offshore counterparts, but to date, that hasn’t necessarily been the case.

One poster offered this:

WSOP's withdrawal process is a joke! It took me forever to get a token # so I could get my withdraw as it was in my spam folder and it only lasted 3 hours. I talked to chat about whether I needed to send anything in for verification and they said if you have a token then everything's fine. So 3 days after I process my withdrawal I get an email saying I need to send them a bank statement and that it's a 14 waiting period or some ****. UP just sends you a text and there's a check in your mailbox in less than 5 business days. Screw your incompetent site and your atrocious customer service. Everything about your site has left a bad taste in my mouth and I have never played a hand there. I <3 UP more and more.

Another writes:

Impossible to deposit on the site. Pathetic. I have a handful of gripes with UltimatePoker but at least I can put money on the site, play with it, and take money off the site.

WSOP.com is the second site to come online following UltimatePoker.com’s debut a few months back.  Both only accept players who are physically located in the state of Nevada.

A WSOP.com representative responded to some of the complaints.

The success rate of deposits is still reduced for anything over $400 in a 24 hour period. We are currently working with our payment process team to increase this, but because of the fraud/risk systems that are in place to protect our players, this is a slow-moving process.

The reason for the deposit limits has been compared to "building credit" within the system; each time a successful deposit is cleared, it should become easier over time to get larger deposits through the process.

The Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA) prohibits banks from allowing online gambling transactions for Web gambling in the US but sites like WSOP.com and UltimatePoker.com are supposed to now be exempt.  Some financial institutions have been reluctant to allow any such transactions, however.
