Survey: 79.4 Percent of Gamblers Say Online Gambling Won’t Increase Addiction

Morningside Recovery Center, the leading addiction recovery center surveyed over 1,030 men and women this week over the age of 18 on Gambling Addictions.  As Gambling 911 has previously reported, PokerStars is referring players to Morningside Recovery and poker great Eric Lindgren has been there for two-weeks to deal with his issues.

“Double Down or Bust: How Gambling is an American Addiction” was conducted over the last week by SurveyMonkey for Morningside.

·      When asked how people deal with losing or winning, 5.6% said they drink all night; 2.0% turn to drugs; 3.8 % go to strip clubs; 88.6 forget about it and move on.

·      20.6% of people said if online gambling was legal it would increase their gambling – 79.4% said it doesn’t matter one way or the other

·      27 percent of those surveyed take drugs and alcohol while gambling.
