A Mount Clemens, Michigan national motorcycle gang, the Devil’s Diciples, is accused of running an elaborate meth, gambling, theft and violence ring.  Six individuals have been charged and are currently standing trial in connection with the scheme.  35 others are named in a federal indictment and all are in custody.

“Drugs and this club went hand in hand,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Saima Mohsin told jurors in U.S. District Court in Detroit. “Drugs was the incentive, drugs was the lure, drugs brought people in. Drugs kept the club going.

“Nobody was making millions and millions of dollars but it produced enough to keep it going.”

Closing arguments were made in the three-month trial Tuesday.

A murder “at the Cadillac clubhouse” appeared to mark the beginning of the operation 20 years ago, ending in January 2012, according to Mohsin.

On trial are club president Jeff Garvin “Fat Dog” Smith of Mount Clemens; vice president Paul “Pauli” Darrah of Macomb Township; Cary “Gun Control” Vandiver of Mount Clemens; Vincent “Holiday” Witort of California; Patrick Michael “Magoo” McKeoun; Scott “Scotty Z” Sutherland; and David Randy “D” Drozdowski.

Smith, Darrah and Vandiver are facing the gambling charges in addition to racketeering.
