Jacksonville Jaguars Odds to Win the 2017 AFC South

The Jacksonville Jaguars odds of winning the 2017 AFC South were set at 6/1, a good value considering there does not yet appear to be any dominant team in this division and the Jaguars have the possibility of improving in 2017.

Athlon writes this of the Jags chances:

Starting with the 2009 season, the Jaguars are 7–24 in September, a .226 winning percentage that is worst in the league. Slow starts have led to draft talk in November, coaching changes in January and roster overhauls in March. If Leonard Fournette can lead the offense and the defense jells quickly, the Jaguars could finally start quickly and develop a buzz that has been lacking. But their streak of non-winning seasons will reach a full decade because the offensive line won’t be able to protect Bortles well enough and the defense still doesn’t produce enough of a pass rush.

Fournette suffered a foot injury during Sunday’s practice but should be fine by the time the regular season rolls around.

The 22-year-old rushed nine times for 31 yards and a touchdown before telling reporters that he thought the NFL was “easy.”

“It’s a lot slower than I really thought,” Fournette told NFL.com at the time. “That’s how I’ve been since I first got into the NFL. A lot of people were like, ‘It’s going to be fast.’ But by me playing in the SEC, that kind of helped me a lot. … I think, to me, it was really easy.”

Fournette amassed 3,830 yards at LSU over three seasons.
