UNLV (4-0) opens as a -4.5 home favorite against Syracuse (3-1) on Friday night October 4.

Using the prior week's Sagarin Ratings, we get a number of 7.81.  Early indications suggest an underlay and underlays in the 3 to 4 point range have had a tendency of performing quite well for the favorites using our model data compiled over the past two years. The sample size is also quite good.  It is just a matter of where the line moves and what the updated Sagarin Ratings have in store for us.

Kyle McCord threw for 4 touchdowns, 385 yards and Syracuse defeated Holy Cross 42-14.  This is a Holy Cross team that has only won a single game so far this season.  Certainly UNLV will be presenting the stiffest competition for Syracuse thus far.

LeQuint Allen ran for 81 yards and a 1-yard score and he caught seven passes for 54 yards. Jackson Meeks had a career-high 10 receptions for 161 yards to lead Syracuse. The Orange had 541 yards of total offense to 203 for the Crusaders.

“We want to keep growing on special teams," Syracuse coach Fran Brown said. “We want to continue to get better rushing the passer. Continue to get better at protecting our quarterback, and better at running the football. We’re nowhere near where we can be.”

UNLV comes into this game ranked No. 25 in the nation.

The Rebels didn't let a little thing like losing their starting quarterback get in the way of a statement victory.

Hajj-Malik Williams threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score, Ricky White III returned a blocked punt for a score and caught two touchdown passes, and Jai'Den Thomas returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown as unbeaten UNLV breezed to a 59-14 victory over Fresno State in the Rebels' conference opener on Saturday.

UNLV (4-0, 1-0 Mountain West) opened conference play without starting quarterback Matthew Sluka but didn't miss a beat with Williams directing the offense.

BetUS will be offering numerous player and game props for this game available here.
