Abilene, Texas is located approximately two hours west of Fort Worth. In recent years, the city has become known for its successful college basketball team. Abilene Christian Historic Victory
Another double-digit seed moved on in the 2021 NCAA Tournament after stunning the Texas longhorns. The Wildcats were a No. 14 seed at the time.
“We just beat the University of Texas. Little ol’ Abilene Christian out in West Texas built a program that went toe-to-toe with the University of Texas and it’s an incredible story,” Wildcats coach Joe Golding said. “It’s what March is about.”
Today, Golding is the head coach at the University of Texas at El Paso.
