Today's Top Capper Consensus Picks

Pirates

Guardians

Under 8.5 Brewers/Astros

Pirates @ Cubs

This was an early game already in progress as this was going to press but it did look like the Pirates were going to come through nicely, barring something crazy.

Bill Blatt is our No. 2 leaderboard capper this day and is the only one backing Chicago here.

Everybody Loves the Guardians

"The Minnesota Twins have hit a bit of a rut, dropping four of their last five bouts after a series sweep at the hands of the Yankees. The Cleveland Guardians have been tough to beat at home. They have only dropped one home series all year and just won a series against Texas.

"Furthermore, Minnesota pitcher Simeon Woods-Richardson squandered five runs in his previous outing. Guardians’ starter Triston McKenzie has been dominant, holding his opponent to only four earned runs in his last three outings spanning 18.2 innings, equating to a minuscule 1.93 ERA. The Guardians have won in four of his last five outings."

Twins @ Guardians

Two of our top 5 handicappers were backing Cleveland.  The line did drop from -130 to -113, which scares us a little.  But the number had fallen to -107 and was moving back up again.

Both teams are well above the .500 mark. Minnesota is coming off a three-game shutout to the Yankees, at home no less.  They only lost one game in each of their last two series, both against American League teams.

Cleveland went 2-1 against the Rangers but dropped three of four games in their prior series versus the Chicago White Sox.

The Guardians have mostly owned this series of late, going 7-3 and winning the last three games.

Simeon Woods Richardson was charged with five runs while going 4 1/3 innings and not factoring into the decision against the Blue Jays on Saturday.  He doesn't have a win in his last four, yet Woods Richardson is a pretty good pitcher (1-0, 3.24 ERA).

Twins batters are .175 versus Triston McKenzie.  In 97 at bats, the Guardians current roster has 17 hits, 5 home runs and 11 RBIs.

This is not a spot where we would go against the Twins.  Sorry Robert and Wayne.

McKenzie was charged with two runs over 6 2/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the White Sox.  He allowed one earned run and stuck out six in five innings against the Tigers.

The last three in this series have gone Under the current total of 8.  Seven of the last ten have gone Under.

Minnesota scored a single run in their series against the Yankees. Five of Cleveland's last ten have seen no more than 3 runs.

We're fading here as the consensus total play is on the Over.  We are jumping on the Under 8 here.
