What is the Week 1 Line on the Texans vs. Chiefs Game

The Chiefs open their 2020 NFL season looking to defend their Super Bowl title at home versus the Houston Texans.  The line on this game opened with the biggest number in Week 1 (Chiefs -9.5).

Head to Head

Two of the recent blowouts by the Chiefs have been in January (earlier this year and in 2016).  Otherwise, Houston has won two of the last five games in this series dating back to 2016.  Four of the last six dating back to 2015 have resulted in the Texans covering the spread using the 9.5 number.

Sagarin Line Monitor

Well ahead of the start of this season, Sagarin indicates the line should be Kansas City -11.

What They Are Saying

Jason Reid, senior writer, The Undefeated: Texans at Chiefs, Week 1. Talk about starting off right with a superstar quarterback matchup. Kansas City's Mahomes and Houston's Deshaun Watson are the breakout members of the 2017 NFL draft class. Bears executives probably shouldn't watch this one. Remember: Chicago made Mitchell Trubisky the first QB selected in 2017.

Kevin Seifert, national NFL writer: Texans at Chiefs, Week 1. How can we look past the annual kickoff game? The Texans blew up their roster after losing a 24-0 second-quarter lead to the Chiefs in the divisional playoff round. Can they get any closer to the Chiefs? Or will they once again be humiliated?
