The dreaded mononucleosis has claimed New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold for what will likely be a few weeks. Confirmation of his ailment and inability to play resulted in the line on this game shooting up from -1 to -6.5 favoring the Browns. Most books had already moved to -2.5 on Monday. The Browns play on the road and both teams come into this game 0-1.

The Jets, who lost starting wide receiver Quincy Enunwa to a season-ending neck injury this week, could be without Darnold for multiple weeks. ESPN reports.
There is some good news in that the Jets have an early bye week.
Running back Le'Veon Bell underwent an MRI on Thursday to evaluate shoulder soreness, though a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that no major damage or tear was found.
Jets head coach Adam Gase said of Bell’s situation: "We don't think it's anything worse than that. We're just trying to be a little extra cautious."
Weight loss and extreme fatigue are the most common symptoms with mononucleosis.
Darnold expressed concern about recent weight loss. He dropped 5 pounds, according to Gase.
Once your symptoms do appear, they typically last for two to four weeks. You can pass the virus to other people through your saliva for up to three months after your symptoms subside.
