Ole Miss interim AD Keith Carter said he was "extremely disappointed" after a Pac-12 officiating crew chose not to review a play on which the Rebels appeared to score in the waning moments of their 28-20 home loss to California, now 4-0.

On third-and-goal from 3-yard line with 17 seconds left, Ole Miss quarterback John Rhys Plumlee rolled to his left and connected with Elijah Moore near the goal line. Moore's feet were in the end zone, but the official on the sideline nearest the play ruled that the ball did not cross the plane, and the ball was spotted just short.

Rebels coach Matt Luke pleaded with officials to stop the clock and review the play, but the ball was quickly marked at the 1. Plumlee attempted a sneak and was held short of the goal line on fourth down as time expired.

"I thought at the very least, it should have been buzzed and reviewed," Luke said. "We didn't have a timeout. We could not spike it. Our only option was to get a quarterback sneak and get the ball off.''

Arizona State also came out on the winning side of what the refs admitted was a blunder in their Week 3 game.

The Pac-12 acknowledged an officiating error on the last play of Arizona State's 10-7 victory at Michigan State on Saturday.

The conference said Sunday night that the Sun Devils should have been called for leaping on Michigan State's missed field goal attempt as time expired.

"An Arizona State defensive player took a running start and leapt over the kicking team's line in an attempt to block the kick," the Pac-12 said in a statement. "In the process, he leapt into the frame of the body of an opponent. The penalty would have been 15 yards from the previous spot and an automatic first down. In this case, it would have been administered as half the distance to the goal and Michigan State would have been provided one untimed down."

Michigan State had a tying field goal in the final seconds negated for having too many men on the field, setting up a second attempt that Matt Coghlin hooked well left.
