You can bet on preseason NFL games online from any state via internationally licensed sportsbooks. With the US Supreme Court abolishing decades long restrictions on sports betting, a few states now have opened up their own sportsbooks. Let's take a look at which state you can physically place a wager on preseason NFL games.
Nevada - The only state that offered full service sportsbooks prior to the Supreme Court ruling. Certainly the Vegas and Reno books are well ahead of the game. Some take pretty hefty action.
New Jersey - Whether in Atlantic City, at the Monmouth Racetrack or at the Meadowlands, you can place a bet on this year's preseason NFL. More sportsbooks are slated to open with online betting coming soon. One will be required to provide their social security number and fill out tax documents in order to open an online wagering account with a New Jersey-based sportsbook, not so with the international sites. NJ was the state that filed legal action to offer sports wagering.
Delaware - The state's three casinos will be offering betting on preseason NFL games though these establishments are not as glitzy as those found in NJ and especially Nevada. Delaware was prepared to offer sports betting as they were previously allowed to take bets on parlays (wagering on more than one team to win as part of a single bet).
Mississippi - Casinos here hope to begin taking bets ahead of the NFL and College Football season. It is unclear whether they will be open in time for preseason NFL however. Not all casinos in Tunica and Biloxi plan to feature a sportsbook.
West Virginia - The state had been proactive in setting up the infastructure to begin offering legalized sports wagering. This is not expected to happen until the 2018 NFL regular season however.
