Memphis vs. Boise State

Jalen Duren added 21 points and 20 rebounds, Lester Quinones scored a career-high 22 points and Memphis topped Central Florida 85-69 in the American Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals on Friday night.

DeAndre Williams had 14 points for Memphis (20-9). Josh Minott added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Memphis finished the season 10-1 in their final 11 games.  They also covered the spread in ten of their last thirteen games.   This is a very different team than that which played prior to Mid-January.

The Broncos are back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

Boise State has a Top 20 defense nationally.

They are 27-7 and beat the San Diego State Aztecs 53-52 to win the Mountain West Tournament and earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Tournament MVP Abu Kigab scored 11 points and Emmanuel Akot added 10 for the Broncos, who became just the fifth team in Mountain West history to win an outright regular-season conference championship and the league’s postseason tournament.

Boise State — which had made the semifinals just three times in 10 years, and had just one appearance there since 2015 — entered the tourney coming off their first outright regular-season conference title in more than three decades.

Strong Mountain West

Four teams from the Mountain West have made the tournament this year.   It is the deepest they've been in years.

The Mountain West had more bids (4) than the PAC-12 (3) and American Athletic Conference (2).

Overall, the conference has a winning percentage of .648.

Best Bet

There is a good argument for Boise State to win here, but +2.5 does give them wiggle room on the spread.   The Broncos are also just 19-41 Straight Up as an underdog (31.7%) since 2016, 12-29 (29.3%) on the road.

We will be on Boise State here +2.5
