XWINK Loses Big but Wins Even Bigger

Over the weekend, a high stakes player has been riding some pretty large waves over at Full Tilt Poker. The last sentence is nothing out of the ordinary. However, the fact that the player’s name is not Dwan, Blom or Ivey is what makes it somewhat surprising. It’s not Ziigmund, it’s not Jungleman, it’s not even one of the Dang brothers. Nope, the person who had the rails buzzing quite loudly is someone whose identity is not known at all. An unknown Canadian player going by the name “XWINK” has been both winning and dropping at an astonishing rate against anyone who will take his action.

The player, rumored to be the same player who goes by the name “XBLINK” on Full Tilt and UB.com, managed to be up over $2 million in a 36 hour period before a late swoon on Saturday night slowed him down. By the time what ended up being a marathon 48 hour session was over, XWINK was still up over $1.1 million. His rampage began on Thursday afternoon when he locked up against players such as Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen, Rui Cao, Ivey, Cates, Cole South and David Benefield. He did most of his damage against Cao and Benefield who each had lost over a half a million bucks when they walked away from their computers. XWINK mixed it up at the $300/$600 and $500/$1000 Heads up PLO tables, playing against multiple foes at once.

His domination lasted through the early morning hours all the way through Saturday morning. At that point, perhaps fatigue began to set in as he started losing at a breathtaking clip. Up stepped Cole South to see if a good night’s sleep would reverse his fortunes against XWINK and apparently, that did the trick. In their 2nd match in as many days, South beat his antagonist for over $515K, including one massive $243K pot. Most railbirds couldn’t remember seeing this player before, but would love to see him playing regularly, especially at this rate of action.

Through the first week of March, XWINK is among the biggest online winners, with over $900K in profits.
