The poker community is asking everyone to donate to efforts assisting those affected by the devastating 8.9 earthquake that struck Japan Friday.  It is the worst earthquake to strike that nation ever and 5th worst earthquake on record.

“Text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 #Japan,” urged Shannon Elizabeth, the noted celebrity and poker pro.

Joe Sebok of UB.com wrote:

“Wow. Intense in Japan. Thoughts with them. Up sweating this possible tsunami in Hermosa Beach. Anyone worried?”

Christian Harder, who has had 33 cashouts over his poker playing career:  “Wishing the best of luck to everyone In Japan....#prayforjapan”

Evelyn Ng:  “Good luck to everyone in Japan. :(“

Thayer Rasmussen:  “Good luck Japan :( This is crazy”

Gavin Griffith:  “Praying for the people in Japan. Feel very humbled”

Marcel Luske:  “Earthquake .Tsunami. & suddenly we { should } realise what is realy important, look after & support eachother if possible @ all times “

The poker community is likely to be among the first to organize charity poker tournaments.   This is a horrible crisis.  We will continue to monitor the situation.
