The competition for the 2020 Kentucky Derby gets more exciting as we are a few more months away from this event. A lot of three-year-old thoroughbreds have expressed their interest in running in the Derby.

Take note that the Kentucky Derby will serve as a kick-off celebration for the U.S. Triple Crown races and is considered as one of the richest horse racing events in the world.

Last February, four Derby prep races took place, all of which provide an automatic berth to the Derby. In fact, most of Bob Baffert's entries were big winners for the said prep races, including Thousand Words, who made it through the Robert B. Lewis Stakes. It is a clear manifestation that the 2020 Kentucky Derby gets more exciting.

As we draw near to Derby's date, many hopefuls are coming in, making sure they qualify to run at Churchill Downs. In the previous reports, around 347 horses are aiming to make a debut run in the 2020 Kentucky and want to clinch the prestigious title for the first time.

One of the hopefuls that have risen to the top in the Kentucky Derby odds here is Anneau d'Or. Many were surprised by his stellar performance as he’s not a mainstay in the top list of the Derby betting lines. This week, Anneau d'Or takes an impressive leap in the odds ranking to be worthy of the Kentucky Derby crown.

Will he maintain the same impression and continue to generate excellent odds until the Derby begins? Let's know this horse athlete better.

Anneau d'Or Profile

Anneau d'Or is a three-year-old thoroughbred who was bred on March 17, 2017. He is owned by Peter Redekop B. C., Ltd., and bred by Highland Yard, LLC. His trainer is Blaine D. Wright and ridden by his jockey, Joel Rosario. Besides, he is a sire of Medaglia d'Oro, who was also an excellent horse athlete during his days.

Furthermore, Anneau d'Or has accomplished a total of three horse racing games since his debut run. One of these accomplishments is a championship title, and the remaining two are both second places. He was able to tally total earnings of $399,000 and is now considered as one of the highest-earning horse athletes that will compete in the 2020 Kentucky Derby.

In the beginning, Blaine D. Wright didn't have much interest in the Kentucky Derby. He had not seen any horse that could compete well in the dirt track. But, upon looking into the accomplishments of  Anneau d'Or, Wright found out that he has a huge chance of making it to the Derby. That's why he then confirms a bid in the Run For The Roses.

Anneau d'Or Racing Career

Anneau d'Or is a recently-foaled horse racer, yet he had successfully attended some notable horse racing events that made him famous. Last year was a colorful season for him as he won a victorious Maiden race and two stakes races. After these accomplishments, he was considered by Wright as a strong contender for the 2020 Kentucky Derby.

Last September 29, 2019, Anneau d'Or competed in Maiden Special Weight held at the Golden States. He did his best in showcasing an impressive speed that made him win first place. After that, he took part in the first graded stakes races joining the TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile held last November 1, 2018, at Santa Anita, where he ended in second place.

Many fans think that Anneau d'Or won't run anymore last year. However, on December 7, 2019, Wright decided to send him to Los Alamitos Thoroughbred to compete in the Grade 2 Los Alamitos Futurity. Anneau d'Or showcased excellent running skills and finished in second place.

Anneau d'Or Strengths

All horses joining the 2020 Kentucky Derby race have excellent racing accomplishments in the past, and Anneau d'Or is not an exception. One of the strengths that this horse athlete can offer is his strong racing form. He has been doing an impressive job in his previous racing games, and if he continues to do well, then he might just win the Kentucky Derby title this year.

Aside from that, his jockey, Joel Del Rosario, is a multi-awarded jockey who had tallied several notable Triple Crown awards. He was able to bag many Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes titles. As he works with Anneau d'Or in the upcoming Kentucky Derby, they might showcase an unstoppable speed that will help them achieve the title.

A lot of Kentucky Derby hopefuls have started their training to make sure they perform well in the upcoming Kentucky Derby. Anneau d'Or is one of those Derby hopefuls that had shown not only impressive skills but also earned a huge odds value that gives every punter a ray of light to bet for him. Will Anneau d'Or take home the Kentucky Derby crown this year? It's for you to decide.
