The whole sign-stealing scandal from when these clubs met in the 2017 Worlds Series is behind us, but don’t think the Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t looking to stick it to the Houston Astros. The Dodgers extended their winning streak to eight with a 9-2 triumph in Game 1 of the series on Tuesday and trot out Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer on Wednesday looking to keep LA’s run going while handing the Astros a fifth straight setback. Luis Garcia will attempt to snap Houston’s second-longest losing streak of the season.  Bookmaker.eu offers a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $1600)

The game will air live on ESPN with betting options for every game on the 2021 MLB schedule available at BookMaker.eu.

Odds Analysis

The Dodgers have righted the ship winning eight in a row and 12 of their last 13 games after a brutal 20-game stretch that saw them win just five times. We all expected the Dodgers to be competing for another World Series title with their stacked roster and they are back at it. The slump a few weeks ago shows that they are vulnerable, though. But if they can play as well as they are right now without the services of Cody Bellinger and Corey Seager just imagine how good they’ll be when those guys, among others, return to the lineup.

The Dodgers have been heavy favorites on the moneyline in just about every game they’ve played. Despite their 30-18 record they are down 250 units on the moneyline and 148 units on the run line. And we’ve seen the sticks come alive with 26 runs scored in the last three games cashing the OVER every time. The Dodgers are MLB’s second highest scoring team averaging 5.17 runs and they boast the second-best team ERA at 2.99 so it’s only fitting that the OVER is 25-22-1 in their 48 games played.

Just last week the Astros took over first place in the AL West taking the final two games of a three-game set with the Athletics. They haven’t won since dropping four in a row. It’s been a streaky season for the Stros who have four winning streaks of three or more games and four losing streaks of three or more games. They are currently trending the wrong direction with pitching a major reason why. The staff allowed 18 runs getting swept in three games by Texas and the Dodgers went for nine runs in the opener. The OVER is 9-1 in Houston’s last 10 games.

Probable Pitchers

Bauer (5-2, 1.98 ERA) was introduced to the rivalry with the Giants in his last start and gets indoctrinated with another of LA’s least favorite teams on Tuesday. Last year’s NL Cy Young winner has been everything the team hoped for when signing him and more. He’s pitched at least 6.0 innings in all but one of his 10 starts and has not allowed an earned run over 13.1 innings of his last two outings. He’s been sensational this month compiling a 1.14 ERA with 37 strikeouts over 23.2 innings.

Bauer has allowed more than two earned runs just once this season, that coming in his debut when the Rockies touched him for four runs in 6.1 innings. If you’re going to score off him you have to earn it. He’s allowed only 31 hits and 18 walks over 63.2 innings for a scintillating 0.77 WHIP. His eight quality starts are second in the majors and he’s third with 88 punchouts.

Garcia (2-3, 3.38 ERA) has settled into the rotation after making a few relief appearances early in the campaign. He’s been solid as a starter getting his first two career wins in his last two outings, though he won’t give the Astros a lot of innings since he’s yet to complete six frames. He allowed three hits and two runs over 5.0 innings in his last start picking up a win over the A’s.

Garcia has allowed just 29 hits over 40 innings this season, but eight of those hits have left the yard. His overall numbers have been better in home appearances with a 2.53 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 21.1 innings at Minute Maid Park. He’s facing the Dodgers for the first time.

Bet Dodgers at Astros at BookMaker.eu

From a pitching standpoint this matchup favors the Dodgers. It probably also favors them from a hitting standpoint. The club has been raking lately and while Garcia has been good he’s been hittable, especially with the long ball. Bauer will keep the Astros in check and the Dodgers would like nothing better than to hand them another setback while not stealing signs.

MLB Score Prediction: Dodgers 6, Astros 2
