Michigan State should be a -2 favorite versus Davidson in this first round of the 2022 March Madness tournament.

Jaden Ivey finished with 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and Eric Hunter Jr. made two back-breaking 3-pointers late in Saturday's second semifinal game to give Purdue a 75-70 victory over seventh-seeded Michigan State.

The Spartans (22-12) were suffering through injuries in that game. Starting point guard Tyson Walker left in the first half with what appeared to be a sprained ankle and did not return. His replacement, sophomore A.J. Hoggard, turned his ankle on the next possession. Hoggard also left but did return and finished with 17 points and 10 assists, though the injuries left Michigan State precariously thin.

“The doctor told me we lost two point guards in 23 seconds or something like that,” Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said. Tyson, the one thing he would have given us, was the way they play ball screens, he could have really helped us. I don’t know how bad it is. It’s not broken or anything, but it’s bad enough it’s going to be some time.”

In non-conference games this season, MSU is 9-2 (81.8%) Straight Up.

As Favorite MSU is 18-4 (81.8%) this season Straight Up.

Jacob Gilyard scored 26 points, Tyler Burton had 16 points and 12 rebounds and No. 6 seed Richmond beat top-seeded Davidson 64-62 on Sunday to clinch the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament and an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time in 11 years.

Davidson though finished the season 27-6 Straight Up.  They went 18-11 Against The Spread.

Against ranked opponents they are an abysmal 3-11 Straight Up dating back to 2016 for a 21.4% win percentage.   They only faced one ranked opponent this year, but that was one of the three wins.
