LSU vs. Kentucky
Kentucky is quite good Straight Up and have not had two or more consecutive losses, most recently beating Alabama following a shock home loss to the Vols. But their ability to cover a -6.5 home spread against the Crimson Tide was more the product of Alabama falling flat Against The Spread over the past month and going 0-6 Against The Spread in their last 6 games following a Straight Up win.
That's not to take anything away from Kentucky. Kellan Grady made seven 3s for a season-high 25 points, Oscar Tshiebwe added 21 points with 14 rebounds and Kentucky rallied twice to top No. 25 Alabama 90-81 on Saturday despite being short-handed with injuries to starting guards TyTy Washington Jr. and Sahvir Wheeler.
Against LSU they will be favored by -7.5 points and the moneyline will be somewhere around -350.
LSU kicked off this season on a high note: Winning 11 straight. But that was before conference play got underway. This is reflected in their Straight Up record as well with just four wins in eleven.
30% covering the spread is being kind too. Heading into the game against Kentucky February 23 they have failed to cover in seven of their last nine games.
Make no mistake about it however, the Tigers destroyed the books early on, covering the spread in nine of their last ten games.
LSU has played this series close with one exception, two in the last nine meetings.
We have actually detected a half point overlay here. LSU has either won or covered the current 7 point spread in five of their last six and is due for a cover here, and that is who we will be on.
