NBA Betting – Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers

The battle for supremacy in the Eastern Conference will take place on the hardwood when the Brooklyn Nets visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night. The teams enter their third meeting of the season with identical 37-17 records and it looks like a two-team race for the top spot with Milwaukee falling 3.5 games off the pace. The clubs split their earlier encounters with each winning at home, and this may not be a fair fight since the Nets will be without James Harden and possibly Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.  Bookmaker.eu offers a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $1600).

Odds Analysis

The Nets forged a tie at the top of the conference standings with their 127-97 win over Minnesota on Tuesday in a rescheduled game. It was a nice bounce back effort after they were embarrassed in a home loss to the Lakers in their previous outing. They covered the 7.5-point line improving to 2-1 ATS in their last three games. It was also the Nets 11th win in their last 14 road games. The task becomes more difficult against Philly. Beating the hapless Wolves is one thing taking down the Sixers is another, especially without the starting backcourt. The Sixers are coming off a 3-1 road trip that saw them handily beat Oklahoma City and Dallas in the last two. They went 3-1 ATS holding three opponents to less than 100 points with the UNDER going 4-0. Now for the biggest game of the season to date the Sixers head home as one of the best home teams in the NBA. They are 20-5 SU and 16-9 ATS at the Wells Fargo Center, including a 124-108 payout over the Nets back in early February.

Brooklyn Nets

Steve Nash has a decision to make ahead of this showdown. He’s down Harden and Irving isn’t expected to play as he’s dealing with a personal matter. Kevin Durant recently returned to the lineup after a long layoff and the plan was to not play him in back-to-back games. That means the Nets could be down their top three players. Winning the conference isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, just ask the Milwaukee Bucks. So there is a good chance the Nets are cautious about the present while looking to the future. Durant had his most productive game in some time hitting 11 of 15 shots for 31 points against the Wolves.

If Durant does play he could give the Sixers fits. “I felt like my wind and legs are getting up under me, each and every minute I’m playing,” he said. The Nets were also without recently signed LaMarcus Aldridge, but got a big game from Joe Harris, who scored 23 points on 5 of 8 shooting from three-point range. Chris Chiozza and Nicolas Claxton joined the starting lineup for the first time giving the Nets their 32nd different combination of starters in 54 games.

Philadelphia 76ers

It could have been easy for the Sixers to let out a heavy sigh and overlook the Mavericks. They were wrapping up a lengthy stretch of road games with a matchup against fellow East heavyweight Brooklyn looming next. To their credit the Sixers did no such thing. They took care of business beating Mavs easily 113-95 behind 36 points from Joel Embiid. The knee injury that cost Embiid a number of games appears to have healed just fine thank you. And the Sixers got a chance to use every player on the roster in their second straight blowout win keeping guys like Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris fresh for the stretch run.

After playing 10 of their last 12 games on the road and going 7-3 SU and 6-3-1 ATS in those contests, the Sixers return home for the first of four games. They are 20-5 in their gym this season and have won five straight over the Nets going 5-0 ATS. Their Big Three went off in the last meeting with Embiid scoring 33 points with nine boards, Simmons had 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists and Harris added 21 points and 12 rebounds in the 124-108 payout.

This game won’t decided the conference winner and it’s certainly not a preview of what we’ll see when the postseason starts, at least not from the Nets standpoint. Sure finishing first is a great accomplishment and something to brag about, but the bottom line is being healthy when the games matter most. Even if Durant does play I can’t see the Nets doing enough to combat Philly’s lineup. The Sixers are relatively healthy and Embiid is on a mission after returning from his injury, which is why I’ll back the home team in this one.

NBA Score Prediction: 76ers 114, Nets 105
