It's difficult to see any horse beating Epicenter, favored at EVEN odds, but if you are looking for a long shot in this weekend's Preakness Stakes race, Creative Minister offers a $1000 payout on a $100 bet.
He didn't run the Kentucky Derby, and that might be a good thing. Creative Minister will come into this one well rested.
Horse racing expert Dick Jerardi believes he's got a chance in this weekend's Preakness Stakes.
"Each of his races (have gotten) progressively better," Jerardi noted.
His owners made a $150,000 gamble entering him in Saturday's Preakness.
The reason for the pricey supplemental entry fee is that Creative Minister was not nominated to the Triple Crown.
The supplemental payment tacked onto the purse makes this Preakness Stakes worth $1.65 million.
“We've just been seeing how he's progressing,” co-owner Greg Back tells the Paulick Report. He makes his stakes debut in the Preakness. “We think he's going to progress in this race as well. Normally, they can have big jumps in races one through six or seven, and this is only his fourth race. How many times do you get to go to the Preakness with a horse that actually is getting respect?
“I'm a gambler at heart… I think we have a very good chance to hit the board, and I actually think he could pull it off,” he added. “It just depends if some of these other horses get tired and he can make the run he likes to make.”
Skippylongstocking is Drew Butler's favorite and he pays more than double that of Creative Minister at 23-1 odds.
The only reason Drew's picking him is that he loves the name, not to mention the value.
There are also some great props to be had this weekend.
Drew Butler loves the wire-to-wire winner Preakness prop.
"YES is +435," he noted.
Jerardi also likes the YES and he explains why in the video below.
