The NBA world is in shock as the long-awaited power move by the Brooklyn Nets finally took place, James Harden has been traded to the team and now joins Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and head coach Steve Nash, to try to dethrone big teams like the Bucks, Heat and Raptors in the East, and of course, the LA Lakers as reigning NBA champions.

If you have been following the NBA recently, this trade was bound to happen sooner or later, James Harden wanted out of the Houston Rockets, there was a clear divorce between the team and the player, things were not going to get better, and the best option for both was to look for a deal that could benefit both parts. However, negotiations weren’t easy, the Rockets wanted, and deserved, a good deal if they were going to let their franchise player go, Harden had different options on the table, he mentioned Brooklyn, Miami, Philadelphia, and a few more. And for the other teams, it’s hard to figure out what they can let go as well, to trade for Harden.

The thing is that it happened, and Harden is in Brooklyn now, and he seems happy. In fact, he recorded an impressive 30+ point triple-double in his debut against the Orlando Magic. He’s actually the first player ever to debut with any team and get a 30+ point triple double, something that speaks for itself, about the motivation and momentum that Harden brings to the team.

"I hope that you can tell by my smile and my play," Harden said. "Just excited, excited for the opportunity. This is an unbelievable organization from top to bottom. For me, all I have to do is go out there and be the best James Harden I can be, and good things will happen."

Remember Harden used to play with Durant already in the Oklahoma City Thunder, along with another former NBA MVP, Russell Westbrook. With them, the Thunder reached the NBA Finals once, but lost to LeBron’s Miami Heat. After that, Harden left to Houston, Durant eventually moved to the Warriors, and Westbrook was left alone, before leaving the team as well. Now, Harden and Durant reunite in Brooklyn, and Kyrie Irving is the one who completes the deathly trio, another former NBA champion.

Things are looking good for the Nets, no doubt about it, and they are now the team to beat in the East.

James Harden’s trade, this is how it happened

Four teams had implications in the James Harden trade to Brooklyn.

- The Nets receive James Harden and a 2024 second-round pick from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

- The Rockets receive Caris LeVert, Rodions Kurucs, three first-round picks from 2022, 2024, and 2026, and four first-round pick swaps from 2021, 2023, 2025, and 2027 from the Nets, plus Dante Exum and a 2022first-round pick from the Cavs. They also get Victor Oladipo from the Indiana Pacers.

- The Cavaliers receive Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, and rights to Alekzandar Vezenkov from the Nets.

- The Pacers acquire Caris LeVert now from the Rockets, as well as a future second-round pick, in exchange for Oladipo. This could change though, because during his medical in Indiana, LeVert got unexpected news that now have him out of action indefinitely.
