The Jockey Club announced via Twitter July 6 it has suspended the account and privileges of owner/breeder Tom VanMeter pending further review after he was alleged to have made racist remarks via social media.

Prominent handicapper Michael Beychok brought attention to the posting, which includes VanMeter's name and the photo he uses on his Facebook page.
One of the posts presumably by VanMeter says "Put 'em back in their cage!", making reference to the Black Lives Matter movement.
He also uses the abbreviated version of a racist term "nig" in reference to the National Football League (NFL).

VanMeter also foaled and raised 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah for Zayat Stables.
Bloodhorse reports that, in 2019, VanMeter-Gentry Sales sold 63 of 81 horses offered at public auction, generating $5,647,000 in receipts.
