Dallas Mavericks vs. LA Clippers Game 5 Betting Preview

In what has undoubtedly been the most competitive series of the NBA bubble thus far, the Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers are all knotted up at 2-all after Game 4 on Sunday. That contest ended in epic fashion, with Luka Doncic drilling a last-second game-winning three-pointer to cinch a 135-133 overtime win over the Clippers.

Despite some off-court controversy prior to Game 4, the Mavericks put their heads down and powered through the Clippers in a game that many might remember as the turning point where Dallas turns the jets on and dominates.

Will that be the case, or will the Clippers fire back with a win of their own to reclaim control of the series?

A Historical Performance

After being down 21 points, not having the team's second-best player, and dealing with a tweaked ankle, Doncic put up an unbelievable line of 43 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists, making his mark as only the third player in NBA history to drop a minimum 40, 15, and 10 line.

That sort of performance is one for the ages, and while it's definitely really fun for fantasy players, gamblers couldn't care less about the performance outside of props or if they had the Mavericks. Maybe you’re looking for tips to start betting on the NBA!

Either way, Mavericks bettors with the moneyline and taking them +8 at America’s Bookie were definitely happy with the performance, but Game 5 is just another game to bet.

Despite the historical performance, the whole world is going to be taking the Mavericks in Game 5 to continue the momentum. A whole heap of new fans will be riding with Doncic and the rest of the team to sustain the momentum.

If you're a gambler, you need to look at this the same way a trader in the market looks at big news. "Sell the news" should be your motto as you square away a bet on the next game.

There is no doubt that Doncic's performance will result in major adjustments from the Clippers, who had a 21-point lead and choked it away.

Bet a Clippers Comeback Win

The Clippers, who will be favored, are not going to be facing a true "back-against-the-wall" situation, but still, they will come out with a sense of urgency. Doncic's performance in Game 4, while amazing, was undoubtedly a "lightning-strikes-once" type of situation.

Those trying to ride the Luka show, while understandable, may understand very quickly that there are going to be a lot of issues relying on this sort of performance for two more straight games.

A line has yet to be released on the game, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that a line could drop at 5.5 or six points in favor of the Clippers. To find the best line, everyone should have 2 or 3 sportsbooks.

Expect the line to move lower as public money may drive the Mavs' line lower, especially after Doncic's spectacular performance.

Fade the Public Dog, Ride With the Clippers and Under

Expect a lower-scoring, tighter game on defense. The Clippers will lock down Doncic and bounce back in solid fashion.

The Clippers cover, 110-97, and the game stays under.
