The 2019 college football regular season comes to an end this week so we might as well go out with a bang. Our wise guys enjoyed a solid season at the betting window despite last week’s record, and with rivalry week, bowl eligibility and division titles up for grabs there are sure to be a number of quality matchups that will bring us some extra coin for Holiday spending.

We went 1-2 on our wise guy plays last week, but we are still in the black for the season. And that’s always a good thing when wagering on sporting events. We backed the Oklahoma Sooners last week, and while the stats disparity in their game with TCU suggested a cover, the final score did not. Jalen Hurts had a couple of costly turnovers that allowed the Horned Frogs to cover the 18-point line in a 28-24 OU victory.

Backing Iowa -15 is always a scary proposition since they have trouble scoring, and it didn’t pay off against Illinois. The Hawkeyes’ offense is as bad as the defense is good, and it was a typical Iowa game – low scoring with lots of defense. Illinois has shown marked improvement in the second half of the season so I guess we can take them more seriously. Buying Hawai’i at -1 proved to be a wise move. In a battle for the MWC West, the Rainbow Warriors came away with a 14-11 home win over San Diego State to save our week and give us one win.

There are some great rivalry matchups on the Week 14 schedule, the last regular season weekend of the season. Let’s take a look at a few games where sharp money has impacted the line. College Football Week 14 Wise Guy Picks

Clemson ( -27, 51.5 ) at South Carolina, Saturday, Nov. 30, 12 p.m. ET

Two more wins and Clemson is back in the College Football Playoff to defend its national championship. And the way the Tigers have played over the last two months, they certainly are a good bet to do that. The Tigers have been favored by at least 24 points in 10 of their 11 games this season and they hit the board as 24-point chalk against in-state rival South Carolina with over 60 percent of the early action backing Dabo Swinney’s crew.

The play wasn’t significant enough to push the line a field goal, but that’s exactly what happened. The Tigers are currently laying 27 points on the line thanks to sharp action. Clemson has been on a heater since its near miss against UNC back in September, outscoring their last six opponents 315-58 while scoring at least 50 points in each of the last four games and going 5-1 ATS. It’s hard to imagine the Gamecocks sticking around in this one, but it is a rivalry game and they did upset Georgia earlier in the year.

Rutgers at Penn State ( -41, 48.5 ), Saturday, Nov. 30, 12:30 p.m. ET

Our wise guys must like Big Ten football because we seem to get a lot of those games on our list. Or maybe it’s because we can win some money betting on them. Either way we have another B1G game this weekend. Penn State saw its hopes of winning the East and reaching the CFP end in a close loss at Ohio State, its second in three games. It also ended a six-game stretch where the Nittany Lions played five of the top teams in the conference.

A 10-win regular season hangs in the balance if PSU can defeat Rutgers. Everyone else in the conference has and oddsmakers positioned the hosts as a 38-point favorite on the opening line. Shortly after, the line spiked to -41 in a sign that wise guys are backing the Nittany Lions. Rutgers is 0-8 in league play and has been blanked in half those games. They average 5.6 points per game in those contests. The Scarlet Knights have been spotted at least 20 points in five games and are 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS.

Oklahoma ( -13.5, 69.5 ) at Oklahoma State, Saturday, Nov. 30, 8 p.m. ET

It’s called Bedlam for a reason and it’s probably a game most bettors should stay away from because anything can happen. But what’s the fun in that? This one had a more traditional wise guy feel to it with the Cowboys getting nearly 60 percent of the early action when opening +12. Instead of that number falling it climbed to +13.5, an indication that sharps are playing the Sooners.

OU has fallen off the CFP radar lately with less than OU-like play. Over their last four games, including a loss to K-State, the Sooners have scored one more point than their opponents. Yet they are 3-1 SU in those games. They could use some style points to grab the committee’s attention and there’s no better opponent to do that against than OSU.
