Their current seven-game winning streak has the Duke Blue Devils back in a familiar position – first-place in the ACC standings. They look to continue that roll against another Tobacco Road rival in the North Carolina State Wolfpack on Wednesday. The Pack currently sits on the wrong side of the NCAA Tournament bubble with a 16-9 overall record, but they have a chance for a resume-building win against the No. 6 Dookies, who they face again in two weeks at Cameron Indoor.

Odds Analysis

Duke took an easier route to its latest victory. After four wins decided by a single-digit margin, including one that went to overtime, the Blue Devils pasted Notre Dame, 94-60, for their seventh straight triumph. It’s tough to figure out the spread for these guys and even tougher for them to win. The Dookies covered against the Irish but they are just 3-6 ATS in their last nine games and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. NC State saw its modest two-game winning streak end last time out to BC, further hurting their chances of an at-large bid to the dance. The Pack can change the narrative, though, with two games against Duke and another against No. 8 Florida State in their last six regular season games. They are 0-3 SU and 1-2 ATS against ranked foes.

Duke Blue Devils

In what many consider to be a down year for ACC hoops, the Blue Devils have risen to the top with their nifty 22-3 overall record and 12-2 league mark. As good as they’ve been, though, a home loss as a 27.5-point favorite to Stephen F. Austin back in November will haunt them. It seems as though they’ve overcome that blemish and carry a seven-game winning streak into their matchup with NC State.

And the Dookies have been able to win games in a variety of ways that makes them more dangerous at tournament time. Following back-to-back losses to Clemson and Louisville, they crushed Miami by 30. Their 94-60 win last time out gave Duke an ACC record five wins by 30 or more points. In between there were some close calls. The four contests prior to Notre Dame were all decided by a single-digit with an average margin of 6.0 points. That’s kind of a big deal since the Devils’ scoring margin for the season is plus-17.2.

You can do that with an abundance of talent and once again Coach K is loaded. Vernon Carey leads four players in double-figures with 17.6 points per game. Cassius Stanley missed the Notre Dame game but is expected back against the Pack. With 12.3 points per game, Stanley is third on the team behind veteran Tre Jones, who scores 15.8 points and leads the ACC with 6.6 assists. They’ve contributed to an efficient offense that averages 83 points to rank third nationally. Thanks to the offense the OVER is 8-2 in the last 10 games and 17-8 for the season.

North Carolina State Wolfpack

Short of winning the ACC tournament, NC State still has a chance to impress the committee over the final weeks of the season. The Pack have two games against No. 6 Duke and another against No. 8 FSU, and winning all of them will certainly help their chances. A more likely scenario is two wins and one of those would have to be against Duke. Their best chance of getting one is Wednesday at home. “Coming down the stretch we’re going to play some good teams. To advance to the (NCAA) Tournament we’re going to have to win some of those games,” coach Kevin Keatts said.

In order to do that leading scorer C.J. Bryce will need to have a big game. Bryce went without a point in consecutive games last month and the Pack lost them both. He showed signs of breaking out with 41 total points in wins over Syracuse and Miami. And the Pack should feel confident after winning two of the past three encounters with Duke.

NC State isn’t as potent offensively as Duke but they do have balance and depth that can create problems. Bryce leads five players averaging at least 9.7 points per game with 14.0. Devon Daniels picked up his scoring pace averaging 16.2 points over the last five outings to boost his season average to 12.1. NC State doesn’t have the firepower to match so they’ll have to play some defense. And I’m not convinced they are good enough on that end having allowed more than 70 points to each of their last five opponents.

Bet Duke at North Carolina State at BookMaker.eu

This rivalry isn’t as intense for Duke as the one with UNC and I don’t think we’re going to get a game like the one the Devils and Heels had a few weeks back. Though the Pack needs a victory to help their cause, it’s not coming against Duke on this night.

College Basketball Score Prediction: Duke 84, NC State 76

BYU vs. Oregon Week 3 Game Spread

BYU vs. Oregon Week 3 Game Spread

Gambling911.com had the Ducks as a -4.5 home favorite against BYU entering the 2022 season.  Oregon, in particular, could see their rating number rise significantly with a shock win in Week 1 against UGA.  Even with a close loss, the rating is likely to go up.

UGA vs. South Carolina Week 3 Game Spread

To open the 2022 college football season, Georgia would have come in as a huge road favorite versus South Carolina.  The Sagarin Rating for Georgia (1) 99.62 and South Carolina (59) 72.15.   These were the closing ratings for 2021 so adjustments will need to be made.  This would result in the Gamecocks being a +25.5 home dog early on.
