This weekend brings bettors a number of opportunities to add to their bankroll. College basketball offers a number of ranked opponent showdowns and the Australian Open finals will take place on Saturday.

Here’s a look at the best bets for this weekend.

Big 12 Showdowns

There are two big games in the Big 12 on Saturday. The first pits No. 15 Texas Tech at No. 23 Kansas. Since losing to West Virginia on Feb. 6, the Jayhawks have won four straight, all by double digits.

Head coach Bill Self’s club has played some lockdown defense holding those four opponents to 66, 64, 50, and 41 points. Defense is synonymous with Chris Beard and his Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders give up 62.4 points per game, but they have lost two of their last five games. Both losses were to West Virginia.

Editor’s Choice > 2021 March Madness Sleepers

When Kansas and Texas Tech met earlier this season, the Jayhawks won 58-57. Expect another low-scoring affair on Saturday. In that game, the total went Under 135.5.

Saturday’s total should be in the same range. Play the Under down to 133.

The other Big 12 showdown features No. 12 Texas and No. 13 West Virginia. When the two teams played the first time this season, the Longhorns won 72-70.

The more interesting thing is the total in that game went Over. It is one of nine games in the Longhorns last 11 that has gone Over.

The Over is 9-1 in West Virginia’s last ten games. The Mountaineers have scored 80-plus points in all but one of their last six games.

Expect the total to be set in the 140s. Play the Over all the way to 145.

Australian Open

The men’s and women’s singles finals will take place on Saturday in the land Down Under. Novak Djokovic with his eight Aussie Open titles already is a huge favorite to win for the third straight year. Djokovic (-121) will face the winner of Daniil Medvedev (+375) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (+1300).

Naomi Osaka, who is looking for her second Australian Open title in three years, is the +145 favorite to defeat American Jennifer Brady. Brady’s best finish was making the semifinals of last year’s U.S. Open. She is given +800 odds to pull the upset.

It would be hard not to play the favorites - Djokovic and Osaka - on Saturday. Something to watch are the live betting odds for these matchups. * Our tennis insider explained the phenomenon of the winner losing the opening set. If this happens, grab a solid live number on Djokovic and Osaka.

Best Bets for Sunday NBA

The weekend closes with two of the best teams in the NBA squaring off on national television. Brooklyn travels to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers.

The big question will be who is on the floor Sunday night. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have missed games for the Clippers and Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have been out for the Nets.

Durant and Irving should be back, and Leonard and George are still listed as questionable for a Friday game in Utah.

Being the No. 1 scoring team in the league, the Nets trend toward the Over. The Over is 4-1 in the last five Clippers games. If either Leonard or George play, expect a total somewhere in the low 240s.

The total was 245.5 in a Brooklyn game with Golden State last week and 242.5 against Sacramento. These two teams can light it up, so play the Over all the way up to 245 with at least one Clippers star in the lineup.
