I played day one of the WSOPE where I could get home if I got knocked out. I made it through and have 93,000 in chips when the average is 45,000. I rested through starting day two and we don’t start until 5:30 p.m. today because of a Jewish holiday.

Nine finalists now down to five remaining at the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE). The two chip leaders were Russians Stanislav Alekhin, a virtual unknown before this tournament and Ivan Demidov who is also among the WSOP finalists to play next month in Las Vegas.

Russia's Ivan Demidov was listed with +425 odds at BetCRIS.com to win the 2008 World Series of Poker. Demidov had the second largest number of chips coming into the delayed final which is scheduled to play out this November.

With 363 entrants - the exact same number as last year - the second ever World Series of Poker Europe was about to conclude. By Thursday evening the 2008 WSOPE final 9 table was determined. At stake: A cool $2.1 million (£868,800). 36 positions walk away "in the money".

The numbers are staggering: Poker pro John Juanda has $7,100,000 in total career total winnings to date. The 37-year old one time Bible salesman has won most of this money in just the last five years. Daniel Negreanu, one of the most recognizable faces on the poker tournament circuit today, has $10,400,000 to his name.

Danish poker player, Theo Jorgensen, walked away with his first WSOP bracelet and GBP 218,626 ($400,000 USD). Jorgensen's total career tournament winnings so far amount to just under $1.2 million. He has made two European Poker Tour final tables.
