There was a time when odds makers would question why betting on golf was so "unpopular" when compared with most of the other major sports wagering activity. Today things have changed dramatically. Betting on golf has become one of Gambling911.com's most covered pastimes.

Bookies were the only one's in Great Britain not so happy with the win by Padraig Harrington Sunday - his second straight British Open victory. William Hill, which had gloated the day before that they would not be hurt by a Harrington win, said otherwise late Sunday.

Who won the 2008 British Open? It was Padraig Harrington vs. Ian Poulter down the stretch but Greg Norman and Henrik Stenson were giving the two a run for their money as well

With most of the focus coming into the final day of the 2008 British Open on Greg Norman and last year's winner, Padraig Harrington, it's easy to forget that there were other strong contenders coming down the stretch.

What will the 2008 British Open payouts be? The answer: They are going to be huge no matter who wins this one since Tiger Woods is not participating and anyone remotely posted as favorites (i.e. Sergio Garcia) are not going to win.

2008 British Open betting odds were once again available following play of Day 2 and it was a Korean golfer who ended the day in the lead. Korea's 37-year-old K J Choi completed a round of 67 in the easier afternoon conditions to push Greg Norman out of his long-held lead in The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. If K J Choi were to win the Major, he would be the first Asian to do so.

He nearly stole the 2008 US Open away from Tiger Woods and when it was over, commentators had Rocco Mediate riding off into the sunset. At online betting sites the likes of BodogLife, oddsmakers thought so little of Mediate they made him a 125/1 long shot to win the 2008 British Open. That's a payout of $12,500 for every $100 bet for those of you doing the math.
