Bookies Worst Nightmare: Cardinals, Seahawks, Packers

Earlier NFL games feature action that is mostly balanced with one notable exception.

Bookies will be rooting against the Arizona Cardinals covering a 6-point spread in Cleveland.  This game was seeing better than 85 of the action going towards the Cards.

72-Year-Old Bookie Heading to Prison, Admits ‘Enforcer’ Role

A 72-year-old Cheektowaga, New York man has confessed to threating a local gambler with physical violence if he didn’t make good on a debt.

The FBI got involved after the gambler, Thi C. Nguyen, approached them about the threats made by Eric Battistoni.

“He would testify that the tone of that conversation indicated violence would be used to settle the debt,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony M. Bruce said of the unidentified gambler.

17 People Tied to Illegal Offshore Sports Betting Ring Indicted

A Queens grand Jury has indicted 17 people from three states in connection to the operation of an illegal sports betting ring.

Those charged reside in New York, California and Nevada.  Some of those named in the indictment were still being sought.  Fourteen people, including three people from New York state, are in custody. Authorities say the remaining three are still being sought.

The illegal sports betting site was operated out of Panama City, Panama using the domain name 365Action.com.

76ers End Partnership Deal With PartyPoker Amidst DFS Scandal

The Philadelphia 76ers have cut their ties with PartyPoker following a scandal that erupted two weeks ago within the Daily Fantasy Sports sector. 

It remains to be seen whether this will cause a domino effect in the professional sports arena with many of the franchises entered into partnerships with DFS firms DraftKings and FanDuel.

While PartyPoker does not offer a Daily Fantasy Sports platform, the sports leagues have come under fire of late for deals that seemingly embrace gambling.
