What Are The Odds of a Triple Crown Winner in 2014?

The odds of a Triple Crown winner in 2014 were 10-1 at Sportsbook.com but with California Chrome's big win at the Kentucky Derby, he was now listed with 2-1 odds to win the Triple Crown here.

Odds of there not being a Triple Crown were set at -1200 originally but were now a decent -200.

There has not been a Triple Crown winner since 1978 when Affirmed took that honor.  It’s interesting to note that the 1970’s offered up three Triple Crown winners including Secretariat and Seattle Slew.

Sportsbook.com was also offering huge payout odds on each horse to win the Triple Crown prior to the DerbyCalifornia Chrome would pay out $1000 on a $100 bet for anyone who got him early should he win.

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament.
