With the New York Jets proving once and for all they are the real deal after handing the Tennessee Titans their first loss of the season (and their 13 regular season win streak), many are starting to ask the million dollar question:  What are the odds of a New York Jets vs. New York Giants Super Bowl?

Prior to this week, the Jets making it into the big game was just an afterthought.  The Giants appear to be the best team in the NFC without question, but so too did the Tennessee Titans look unbeatable in the AFC.  That all changed with the Jets decisive 34-13 win over the Titans in Nashville.

The Jets (8-3) came in atop the AFC East after a victory over New England at Foxborough. They have won five straight for the first time since October 2004 and seven of their last eight. The win also pulled them within two of Tennessee (10-1) with five to play in the race for home-field advantage through the playoffs.

"I'm not going to sit here and say we've established ourselves as the best team in football," Favre said. "All it says is I think we beat the best team in football today, definitely if you go by record and the way that they've played. They have been the best team in football."

Meanwhile, Quarterback Eli Manning threw for three touchdowns in his return to the scene of his Super Bowl MVP performance and the New York Giants beat Arizona 37-29 to snap the Cardinals' seven-game home winning streak.

"It's just a totally different feel, it's just a different time," Manning said. "You never really compared it to the last time we were here. We knew we'd have a tough contest with Arizona."

After the Giants, the next best records in the NFC belong to the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, neither of which look like barnstormers even with their 8 wins apiece.  Perhaps the biggest threat to the Giants as the Playoffs approach will be a resurgent Dallas Cowboys team.

For the Jets, there are far more obstacles standing in the way.  Tennessee is obviously still very good and maintains the best record in the AFC by 2 games.  The Jets play in a tight division where any one of the four teams is capable of winning but New England is looking quite good once again.  There is also arguably the third best team in the league, the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The Colts remain dangerous as well.

Sportsbook.com released odds on a Jets vs. Giants Super Bowl showdown at +500 for a payout potential of $500 on every $100 bet.  We were pretty close guessing that the payout odds would be greater than 6/1.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
